Biografía de Whoopi Goldberg
Caryn Elaine Johnson, nombre real, pero más conocida como Whoopi Goldberg nació el 13 de noviembre de 1955 en Nueva York, Estados Unidos. Su padre era pastor protestante y su madre ama de casa.
Estuvo casada en tres oportunidades: la primera vez fue con Alvin Martin, la segunda fue con David Claessen y la tercera fue con Lyle Trachtenberg.
La actriz desde que tenía 8 años ya actuaba en obras teatrales. En su adolescencia fue adicta a la heroína y pudo salir cuando quedó embarazada de su única hija Alexandra.
Whoopi hizo su propio espectáculo en 1983 llamado "The Spook Show". En 1985 Steven Spielberg la contrató para protagonizar "El color púrpura".
En 1990 Golberg protagonizó la famosa película Ghost junto a Demi Moore y Patrick Swayze, película que le permitió obtener el Oscar como mejor actriz de reparto. En 1992 actuó en "Sister Act" convirtiéndose así en la actriz cómica que tuvo el mejor sueldo de la historia.
También interpretó un papel en la película Star Trek.
Whoopi ha ganado dos Globos de Oro, un premio Gramy y otros premios más por su labor solidaria. Estuvo como presentadora de los Oscar en 4 ediciones (1994, 1996, 1999 y 2002).
Escribió varios libros, entre los más vendidos están: "Book" que fue best seller en Estados Unidos y "Alice" un libro de cuentos para chicos.
Es propietaria de varias ong y embajadora de naciones unidas.
En lo que respecta a dibujos animados infantiles, Whoopi Goldberg ha puesto su voz en producciones como: "El Rey León", "Pinocho", "El guardián de las palabras", "Doogal", "Racing Stripes".
También entre 1992 y 1994 fue conductora de un talk show propio llamado: "The Whoopi Goldberg Show".
