Dragon Ball GT o DBGT es la continuación de Dragon Ball Z, de la exitosa saga de
Dragon Ball pero es la única serie que no es basada en un manga por Akira Toriyama. La historia ocurre 10 años después del final de
Dragon Ball Z. Son Goku es convertido en un niño otra vez con las esferas del dragón de estrellas oscuras, y deben ser recolectados dentro de un año o si no el planeta en donde se pidió el deseo, es decir, la tierra, será destruida, por lo que Goku, su nieta Pan, y Trunks deciden embarcarse en el espacio y encontrarlas. Sin embargo, los tres viajeros rápidamente se enredan en un diagrama por sobrevivir de un pasado Tsufuru-jin, el Dr. Mu, que quiere vengarse de los saiayins.
La fruta de su trabajo, Baby, quien pronto toma el control de la situación, y después de matar al Dr. Mu, viaja a la Tierra buscando a los héroes. Él pronto gana control sobre el planeta poseyendo a ciertos personajes, y eventualmente la mayoría de la población de la tierra. Baby desea que el planeta original Tsufuru sea reconstruido usando las esferas oscuras, pero antes de que Baby pueda ejecutar completamente su plan, Goku finalmente puede destruirlo después de lograr un nuevo nivel de Super Saiyan, el Super Saiyan 4. Desafortunadamente, la Tierra ahora tiene el destino sellado, y su población entera debe trasladarse al nuevo planeta Tsufuru antes de la destrucción de ésta. Piccoro, sin embargo, elige permanecer detrás y morir en la explosión. La tierra es restaurada con las esferas del dragón de namekusei.
